About
I am from a small town, enjoy spending quality time with my family, and all kinds of exercise such as weightlifting, HIIT, CrossFit, yoga, biking, running, and walking. My favorite night is a night in, watching true crime, ‘reality’ tv, painting, building Legos, doing a puzzle, or reading. Mental health has been normalized for me at a young age and has been something that my family has been open and honest about, inviting it as something to embrace. I am passionate about de-stigmatizing this field and helping others find a safe space in their busy lives to dedicate an hour to themselves. I believe that everyone and anyone can benefit from therapy, and that there is no “one size fits-all” approach to therapy. What works for your friend/sister/partner might not always be what works for you! Everyone is different and unique, and I like to say, “Weird is good!”.
Mental Health Background and Education
I received my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I have been involved in the mental health field since 2018 beginning with working with troubled youth/teenagers. I then started working in the behavioral health department for soldiers of the Iowa Army National Guard for 5 years, and concurrently with a community-based substance use and mental health outpatient facility here in West Des Moines.
